Illini FS announced it plans to close its Tuscola, IL., tire shop and consolidate operations with its Urbana facility.
Mike Turner, Illini general manager, said changing market dynamics impacted the operations. “The changing tire business has impacted operations in smaller locales, including Illini’s operations in Tuscola. After careful consideration and discussions with the Illini FS board of directors, we have agreed to consolidate our tire shop activities into one location at Urbana operations,” Turner said.
Turner praised the employees at the Tuscola facility and thanked customers of the Tuscola tire shop for their support and business. “We sincerely appreciate the service employees at the Tuscola facility have provided over the years, as well as the customers who have counted on us for quality products and reliable services.”
Turner noted despite plans to close the Tuscola tire shop, Illini FS will continue its on-site, on-farm tire service currently available in Douglas County and the Tuscola area. “We remain committed to serving the needs of farmers in Tuscola and the surrounding area, as well as other customers who have on-site needs.”
Illini FS has invested significant resources in the Douglas County area within the year, including establishing a new fertilizer facility at Hayes, and a partnership with Pangburn Oil and Countryside Propane. Tuscola is also the base for our expanding construction services department. “We remain committed to serving Douglas County,” he said. “We expect these services to grow and we will continue to focus on ways to serve our customers in any way we can.”
Illini FS provides agriculture-related products and services to farmers, rural residents and other customers in east central Illinois.
